Tatcha is a luxury skincare brand that offers a wide range of products to address different skin concerns. Tatcha The Camellia Cleansing Oil is one of their popular products, and it is known for its ability to effectively remove makeup and impurities.
While the Tatcha cleansing oil is definitely a luxurious treat, it is very pricey for a face wash. There are many other cleansing oils on the market that can provide similar results without busting your budget. These Tatcha cleansing oil dupes are great alternatives if you’re looking for a more affordable cleanser.
First, let’s look at what makes this cleansing oil from Tatcha so special.

Tatcha The Camellia Cleansing Oil
Tatcha The Camellia Cleansing Oil is a 2-in-1 makeup remover and cleanser that is formulated to dissolve dirt, oil, impurities, and even hard-to-remove makeup with camellia oil and Tatcha’s proprietary superfood complex.
This luxe cleansing oil is infused with camellia and rice bran oils plus Tatcha’s signature Hadasei-3 complex, a trio of fermented ingredients, green tea, rice, and algae, that work together to leave the skin feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated.
The gentle cleansing oil is intended to remove makeup, dirt, and oil without being harsh on the skin like some soap-based cleansers.
The oil has a lightweight texture and is silky but don’t let that fool you. It removes waterproof makeup (even stubborn eye makeup, including mascara) and a day’s worth of sunscreen.
Tatcha The Camellia Cleansing Oil Key Ingredient Benefits
- Japanese Camellia Oil (Tsubaki): A lightweight oil that is rich in oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid) and Vitamin E. It helps to nourish and moisturize dry skin and has antioxidant benefits that protect the skin. Camellia oil has even been shown to have anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin.
- Hadasei-3: Like all Tatcha products, this cleansing oil contains Hadasei-3, a rice, algae, and green tea superfood complex that is rich in antioxidants. The complex, which undergoes double fermentation, also contains nourishing amino acids and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) like lactic acid, which help to exfoliate and brighten the skin.
- Rice Bran Oil: A light plant oil that is rich in fatty acids and antioxidant Vitamin E. It helps to condition, moisturize and soften the skin.
The cleanser is formulated for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Please note that the cleansing oil contains Tatcha’s signature fragrance, a light floral scent.
Tatcha Cleansing Oil Dupes
Since Tatcha’s proprietary Hadasei-3 complex is unique to the brand, I looked for lightweight and gentle cleansing oils that provide similar ingredients and results as Tatcha but are much lower-priced.
Here are the three best Tatcha cleansing oils dupes that I found:
1. The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil
The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil is a featherweight cleansing oil that uses rice extract, rice bran oil, and jojoba oil to quickly and easily remove makeup, dirt, oil, and dead skin cells without stripping the skin.
Like Tatcha’s cleansing oil, this face cleanser utilizes rice in the formula to brighten and even out the skin tone.
Rice extract, which contains vitamins A, B, and E, ceramide, and minerals to repair and replenish the skin.
Rice bran oil is rich in vitamins and minerals and moisturizing fatty acids, to ensure that skin is left feeling soft, supple, and clean.
Jojoba oil is a lightweight wax ester that is similar to the sebum in our skin.
This oil cleanser has the most lightweight texture of all the Tatcha dupes in this post!
Formulated without mineral oil, the cleansing oil rinses clean without leaving your skin feeling oily, just like Tatcha’s camellia cleansing oil. The natural ingredients leave the skin soft and even-toned.
I think that the packaging for this cleansing oil is even better than Tatcha.
You don’t have to shake the bottle to dispense the oil. It comes in a pump, so you can control how much oil you use.
Please note there is added fragrance in this cleansing oil that smells like a soft powdery fragrance.
NOTE: The Face Shop makes an excellent water-based foam cleanser, Rice Water Bright Foam Cleanser, which is the perfect second step of a double cleanse, and pairs well with Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil, which can be used as your first cleanse to remove makeup, dirt, and impurities without irritation.
2. Naturium Fermented Camellia Creamy Cleansing Oil
Naturium Fermented Camellia Creamy Cleansing Oil is formulated with fermented camellia oil, camellia extract, plus jojoba, chia seed, and moringa seed oils to nourish the skin while removing sunscreen, makeup, dirt, oil, and other impurities.
The unique oil-in-gel texture is a clear thick gel that transforms into an oil when warmed between your palms for 8-10 seconds. You apply it to dry skin and it emulsifies when water is added.
This Tatcha dupe may have a different texture, but it shares the same key ingredient, camellia oil, which undergoes fermentation, like Tatcha’s proprietary complex.
The impressive formula is why this oil-in-gel cleanser made the list of Tatcha dupes.
The fragrance-free cleansing oil leaves your skin soft and smooth without leaving a film. Follow with a second water-based cleanse to remove any residual oil.
3. innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Oil
Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Oil is a hydrating cleansing oil formulated with Jeju green tea to remove sunscreen, makeup, and excess oil without drying your skin or stripping away moisture.
The light, refreshing oil contains green tea extract from Innisfree’s own USDA-certified organic fields on Jeju Island in South Korea to hydrate and brighten the skin.
Innisfree’s Beauty Green Tea was carefully selected from over 3,300 green tea varieties. This special green tea contains 16 hydrating amino acids that are rich in moisture. The green tea is processed to maximize skin care benefits.
Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Oil has the closest texture to Tatcha The Camellia Cleansing Oil of all the dupes in this post.
Jeju green tea is rich in antioxidants that help improve skin elasticity, reduce inflammation, and protect the skin from UV damage.
Green tea even has benefits when it comes to acne. This clinical study showed that a 2% green tea lotion was effective at treating mild-to-moderate acne.
The cleanser contains a naturally-derived surfactant from green tea root that transforms the oil into a soothing milky lather.
Please note there is an added fresh fragrance. Like The Face Shop cleansing oil, this green tea cleanser comes in a pump bottle for easy dispensing.
Cleansing Oils and Oily Skin
TIP FOR OILY SKIN: If you have oily skin, you may stay away from cleansing oils since you don’t want to add more oil to your already oily complexion.
While cleansing oils are excellent for dry skin types as they help to dissolve dirt and makeup without stripping away the skin’s natural oils, rinseable cleansing oils that emulsify, like the lightweight cleansing oils in this post, can usually be used by those with oily skin types, since they will not leave an oily residue behind.
If you have oily skin and wear heavy makeup and sunscreen, an emulsifying cleansing oil could be an effective addition to your skincare routine. Just be sure to follow up with a water-based cleanser to remove any residual oil.
Tatcha Cleansing Oil Dupes: The Bottom Line
Tatcha’s cleansing oil is a luxury oil cleanser, but it’s not the only option out there. There are plenty of other cleansing oils that gently remove makeup, dirt, and oil but don’t have a steep price tag.
Why pay a high price for a product that is washed off your face? You’re much better off spending your money on a good serum, moisturizer, or facial oil that will actually be absorbed by your skin.
