The Ordinary has several launches coming our way, per their recently launched O. Lab, a space where you can get early access to new product launches and behind-the-science content for their latest formulas.
The Ordinary doesn’t release new products very often, so when they do, I’m always excited to see what’s new from this affordable skincare brand.
A newer The Ordinary launch? A foaming cleanser! I couldn’t wait to order this newest product from The Ordinary. I have been testing it out and will share my thoughts on the face wash in this The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser review.

The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser: The Bottom Line
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser is an affordable, vegan option for anyone looking for an effective yet gentle, water-based cleanser that you can easily incorporate into your skincare routine.
Its vegan formula is rich in natural ingredients, which helps to remove makeup and dirt from the skin while protecting your skin barrier.
The silky foam leaves skin refreshed and hydrated without stripping it of its natural oils.
This foaming face wash does its job well, and I think it’s definitely worth trying.
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser
- First water-based gel cleanser by The Ordinary.
- Complements The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser for double cleanse.
- Ideal for morning and evening use.
- Gently removes makeup, dirt, and oil without stripping natural oils.
- Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser is The Ordinary’s first water-based gel cleanser. It is the brand’s second cleanser, following in the footsteps of The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser.
Why launch a second cleanser?
Because The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser is an oil-based cleanser, so Glucoside Foaming Cleanser is a complementary water-based cleanser that pairs well with Squalane Cleanser in a double cleanse.
You can use the Squalane Cleanser (or your favorite cleansing balm or cleansing oil) to remove makeup, dirt, and oil and Glucoside Foaming Cleanser to remove residual impurities and debris.
Glucoside Foaming Cleanser is also the perfect morning cleanse, as it gently cleanses your skin without stripping away its natural oils.
The cleanser is designed to support a healthy skin barrier which is important for keeping your skin healthy and protected.
With continued use, it helps improve the look of skin texture, skin clarity, skin radiance, and suppleness.
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser Ingredients
There are only eight ingredients in Glucoside Foaming Cleanser. Ingredients are listed below in order of highest concentration to lowest concentration:
- Aqua (Water): Solvent.
- Decyl Glucoside: A plant-based surfactant for gentle cleansing sourced from biodegradable raw materials.
- Coco Glucoside: Mild cleansing agent, great for sensitive skin.
- Xanthan Gum: Emulsifier and thickener.
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E): Antioxidant protection.
- Phytic Acid: Antioxidant and stabilizer.
- Benzyl Alcohol: Preservative.
- Ethylhexylglycerin: Emollient and preservative.
The cleanser is formulated at a pH of 5.0 – 6.0. Like all The Ordinary products, this cleanser is cruelty-free and vegan.
Formulated for all skin types, this cleanser comes in a 150ml ( 5.07 oz) tube and is currently priced at $12.50.
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser Review
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser is a clear, fragrance-free gel. It has a thin, runny consistency that creates a light foam when water is added.
It feels very gentle on my skin and does a good job of removing makeup, dirt, and oil, and it doesn’t leave any residue on my skin. After using it, my skin feels soft and hydrated, not dry or tight.
This is an ideal morning cleanser since it is lightweight and non-irritating.
In the evenings, I use this as part of a double cleanse for my combination skin: I start with The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, which removes my makeup, dirt, oil, and sunscreen, and follow with The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, which finishes my cleansing routine with its thorough water-based cleansing agents.
It removes any residual eye makeup without any stinging or irritation.
Those with oily skin will probably prefer this foaming cleanser to The Ordinary’s oil-based Squalane Cleanser since it easily removes dirt and oil and leaves your skin feeling very clean.
I think The Ordinary did a great job with this cleanser, as it is practical, affordable, and gentle on the skin.
Drawbacks
If you have dry skin, you might prefer a non-foaming cream cleanser such as The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser since Squalane Cleanser is a bit more moisturizing.
Since the cleanser is a very thin, runny formula, the tube can get a little messy. (I think it’s better suited for a pump bottle.)

How To Use The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser
- Use as part of a double cleanse in the evening.
- Suitable as a standalone cleanser in the morning.
- Massage into wet skin and rinse with water.
- Shelf life of 12 months after opening.
You can use the cleanser in your morning and/or evening skincare routines. You can use it alone as your AM cleanse. For your evening cleanse, you can use this as your only cleanser or pair it with an oil-based cleanser as the second step of a double cleanse.
Massage the cleanser into wet skin and rinse with water. The Ordinary notes if you experience irritation or a negative reaction, rinse, stop using it and consult a physician. Only use on unbroken skin.
As with all new skincare products, it’s best to patch test before using it for the first time to avoid any adverse reactions.

The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser Alternatives
If you would like to consider some water-based gel cleanser alternatives, consider some of the affordable options:
The Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Cleanser
If you would prefer a non-foaming cream cleanser, The Ordinary Glycolipid Cream Cleanser contains a plant-derived glycolipid cleansing agent that cleanses without stripping your skin or compromising your skin barrier.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser
CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser is an oil-control cleanser formulated for normal to oily skin.
While some foaming cleansers strip the skin, this CeraVe cleanser, like The Ordinary Glucoside Cleanser, is designed to maintain the skin’s natural protective barrier.
It contains nourishing and skin-protective ingredients like ceramides to help maintain the skin’s barrier and prevent moisture loss, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3 that helps to brighten, moisturize and calm the skin.
The gel cleanser creates a gentle foam like The Ordinary and is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores.
The CeraVe cleanser is fragrance-free, comes in a pump bottle, and is available in multiple sizes.
The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser
The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser is formulated with 1% hyaluronic acid complex and 1% inulin compound, which optimizes your skin’s pH while hydrating and strengthening your skin barrier.
This face wash foams lightly, similarly to The Ordinary, and easily removes makeup, dirt, SPF, and other impurities. It continues to hydrate your skin for up to 48 hours after use.
While the cleanser is suitable for all skin types, those with dehydrated and dry skin will especially benefit from these nourishing ingredients.
This gel cleanser reduces transepidermal water loss and doesn’t strip the skin or leave it dried out.
Vegan and cruelty-free.
Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser
Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser is a clear gel cleanser that, like The Ordinary, is formulated to remove makeup, dirt, and oil without compromising your delicate skin barrier.
This jelly cleanser contains Byoma’s Tri-Ceramide Complex (ceramides, cholesterol, fatty acids) to help strengthen and restore your skin barrier.
This jelly cleanser is also formulated with licorice root and green tea extracts, which are rich in antioxidants. These plant extracts brighten, soothe, and calm skin while protecting it from free radical damage that prematurely ages skin.
The cleanser creates a creamy lather, is non-comedogenic, and is vegan and cruelty-free.
