6 Glossier Generation G Dupes That Will Save You Money

Glossier’s Generation G is one of the most popular sheer matte lipsticks available. It’s a versatile lipstick that can be worn sheer or built up for a more dramatic look. While it’s a great lip product, it can be pricey for some.

Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick dupes from Burt's Bees, Honest Beauty, Revlon, Undone Beauty and Pacifica.

Luckily, there are some drugstore dupes on the market that are just as good as Glossier’s Generation G but easier to find and much less expensive.

Before we get into the Glossier Generation G dupes, let’s take a quick look at what makes Generation G such a popular matte lipstick.

My Top Pick

And the winner is…

Undone Beauty Matte Talk for its nourishing formula, matte finish, and sheer pop of color.

Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick

Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick opened in the shade Like.

Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick (shown above in the shade Like) is a sheer lip color that gives your lips the look of just-blotted lipstick without having to blot it.

The pigments adapt to your natural lip color, making the matte lipstick look a little different on everyone who wears it.

The color looks diffused and less intense than a highly-pigmented lipstick. This makes it easy to use without spending time at a mirror applying it. The color of this Glossier product is buildable and comes in six shades.

Glossier combines sunflower seed wax and synthetic beeswax for a smooth cushiony feel on the lips.

Blue agave binds moisture on the lips, while safflower oil creates a barrier on the lips to prevent moisture loss.

While the lip color above looks very dark, it actually provides a sheer wash of color on the lips. Please note Glossier’s sheer matte lipsticks have a rose-like scent due to added fragrance.

Glossier Generation G lipstick is vegan and cruelty-free.

Glossier Generation G Dupes

If you’re looking for a Glossier Generation G dupe, check out my top picks below. These lip tints and balms provide sheer coverage that lasts without the glossy shine of a lip gloss.

1. Honest Tinted Lip Balm

Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm opened in the shade Dragon Fruit.

Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm (shown above in the shade Dragon Fruit) is a best-selling tinted lip color formulated to moisturize lips all day.

Formulated to feel like a lip conditioner, the lip balms contain avocado oil and acai, natural antioxidants that help protect lips from free radicals and environmental damage.

Cocoa butter is rich in fatty acids that nourish your lips.

Like Glossier, this tinted balm provides a sheer wash of color, but unlike Glossier, this balm feels super moisturizing.

It has more of a dewy finish, but after blotting, you are left with a sheer semi-matte finish.

The lip balm comes in seven shades and is vegan and cruelty-free.

2. Burt’s Bees Matte Stick

Burt's Bees Matte Stick in the shade Melted Mauve.

Burt’s Bees Matte Stick (shown above in the shade Melted Mauve) is a medium-coverage matte lipstick.

This no-shine lipstick is a 100% natural origin product formulated with rice bran wax, beeswax, and several oils and butters to nourish your lips while still feeling lightweight on your skin.

Castor, jojoba, sunflower, and coconut oils work to hydrate, moisturize and cushion your lips. Jojoba, cupuacu, cocoa, and kokum butters are emollients that moisturize and soften dry lips.

This Glossier dupe comes in 11 shades and isn’t vegan due to the inclusion of beeswax in the product, but it is cruelty-free.

3. Undone Beauty Matte Talk

Undone Beauty Matte Talk lipcolor opened in the shade Raspberry.

Undone Beauty Matte Talk (shown above in Raspberry) provides a gorgeous matte finish but has a creamy balm consistency that never creates a cakey look or causes dry lips.

Coconut extract hydrates and improves radiance, while Aloe barbadensis leaf extract is a natural soothing agent and humectant that moisturizes the skin.

Of all the dupes in this post, the sheer color and matte finish of Undone’s Matte Talk reminds me most of Glossier Generation G, so this is my pick for the best Glossier Generation G dupe.

While the coverage is sheer, it is buildable. For sheer color, swipe over your lips once or twice. For a deeper color payoff, follow with additional applications of the matte lip color.

This lipstick dupe comes in six shades that are vegan and cruelty-free.

4. Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint

Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint opened in the shade Sugared Fig.

Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint (shown above in Sugared Fig) is all about moisture and sheer mineral lip color, as it leaves your lips tinted, plumped, and healthy-looking with a dewy finish that can be blotted to retain the matte color.

This sheer lipstick’s minimal formula contains avocado oil, a plant oil that helps restore moisture to your lips, and coconut oil, an effective natural emollient and moisturizer.

Cocoa butter is rich in fatty acids like oleic, stearic, and palmitic acids that soften and moisturize your lips.

Vitamin E and rosemary extract are antioxidants that help to protect your lips from environmental stress and collagen-degrading free radicals.

Candelilla wax is a vegan substitute for beeswax that provides a barrier to prevent moisture loss from your lips. Glycine soja wax is another vegan option that helps to lock in hydration.

All-natural flavor imparts the flavor of the shade name, such as Vanilla Hibiscus, Coconut Nectar, Sugared Fig, Blood Orange, or Guava Berry. Yum!

The Pacifica lip tints, available in five shades, are vegan and cruelty-free.

5. Wet n Wild Rose Comforting Lip Color

Wet n Wild Rose Comforting Lip Color in the shade Taffy Daddy, lid removed.

Infuse your lips with the essence of roses with Wet n Wild Rose Comforting Lip Color (shown in the shade Taffy Daddy).

This unique formula blends the nourishment of rosehip oil with the antioxidant benefits of vitamin E acetate, the hydrating power of passionfruit seed oil, and the soothing properties of raspberry extract.

The color is sheer like Glossier but buildable to create any lip look you want.

This lip product isn’t just about color, but it’s also about lip conditioning and care.

6. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade Elusive.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm (shown above in Elusive) is a matte lip crayon that offers lightweight color while moisturizing your lips. The muted color lasts and leaves a matte finish on your lips.

It contains mango, shea, and coconut butters to hydrate and nourish your lips. You can just twist it to get more color, as it doesn’t require a sharpener.

This matte lip crayon provides the most coverage of all the Glossier dupes in this post.

The matte lip balm is available in 12 shades.

Glossier Generation G Dupes: The Bottom Line

While each of these Glossier Gen G dupes provides a sheer wash of color, they each have their own unique formula that sets them apart from one another.

All of the formulas feel moisturizing and nourishing on the lips, which is always welcome when it comes to matte lip color, which can be drying on the lips.

All of these dupes are more affordable than Glossier and come in a wide range of beautiful shades.
