Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Review

Olay is one of the most popular drugstore skincare brands, and their products address many skin issues, from dry skin to the signs of aging.

Olay is one of my favorite skincare brands. I’ve written about many of their products on this site, including their Retinol 24, Collagen Peptide 24, and Vitamin C + Peptide 24 products.

Olay’s newest collection, their Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 line, is a group of hyaluronic acid skincare products that includes a cleanser, serum, an eye cream, a gel cream moisturizer, and a moisturizer with sunscreen.

Of course, I had to give them a try, so I purchased four products from the line and will discuss my experience with the cleanser, serum, eye cream, and gel cream in this Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 review.

Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Products: Active Ingredients

Before discussing each product I tested, let’s discuss the active ingredients in each Olay Regenerist Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 product and what they do for your skin.

• Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates the skin by attracting and retaining water.
• Peptides: Address visible signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of elasticity.
• Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): Smoothes fine lines, evens out skin tone, improves texture, reduces the look of enlarged pores, and balances sebum production.
• Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5): Moisturizes and soothes the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

All products in the line focus on hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin and peptides to help with visible signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines and loss of elasticity.

These products work on your skin’s surface as well as up to 10 layers deep into your skin barrier.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) has become a very popular skincare ingredient in recent years for its ability to attract and hold onto water in the skin, which helps to keep the skin hydrated.

HA is a sugar molecule that acts like a sponge, drawing water from the environment to keep the skin’s surface plump and hydrated.

Peptides

Olay’s Amino Peptide (palmitoyl pentapeptide-4) is supposed to reduce the look of wrinkles and fine lines and improve skin texture, per a four month clinical study.

It’s even been shown to perform similarly to retinol when it comes to smoothing wrinkles but is better tolerated with fewer unwanted side effects.

Niacinamide

In addition to HA and Amino Peptide, the products contain Olay’s signature ingredient, niacinamide (vitamin B3), which is one of my favorite skincare ingredients.

Niacinamide is a powerful multitasker in that it not only goes to work on wrinkles but also helps to even out skin tone, improve skin texture, brighten the skin, balance sebum (oil) production, and minimize enlarged pores.

All Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 products are fragrance-free and suitable for all skin types.

Olay notes that all these products (except the cleanser) will provide 24 hours of hydration for softer, dewier skin.

Panthenol

Also known as pro-vitamin B5, panthenol has moisturizing, soothing, and healing properties that make it particularly effective for skin hydration and repair.

With the cooler weather on the way, I was excited to test these new hyaluronic acid products from Olay.

After using them for about a month, it feels like they’ve really boosted the moisture level in my skin and strengthened my skin barrier.

For your reference, I have a combination skin type that gets oily in the T-zone. I am also somewhat sensitive to stronger active ingredients.

I have been using this Olay Regenerist Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 face wash morning and night and have been very pleased with how it removes makeup and other impurities without irritating my skin.

It bubbles up nicely with a creamy foam and preps my skin for the rest of my skincare routine.

The face wash leaves my skin soft and hydrated, never dry or stripped. I love the fact that there is no added fragrance.

If you are looking for a gentle, hydrating fragrance-free cleanser to add to your routine, this affordable cleanser could be a great choice, especially if you have sensitive skin.

This silky, creamy serum is formulated to provide extended hydration for plump, dewy skin.

In addition to hyaluronic acid and peptides, niacinamide brightens your skin and reduces the look of pores.

This Olay hyaluronic acid serum also contains panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) to moisturize and soothe your skin.

Like all Olay serums, this serum absorbs easily and wears comfortably on my skin without feeling greasy.

It leaves my skin super soft and feeling very hydrated. I apply it twice a day, thanks to the gentle formula.

After using it in conjunction with the gel cream both morning and night for a week, I can say that my skin feels softer, smoother, and better hydrated.

I look forward to using this serum during the cold winter months when my skin gets patchy and flaky.

I think this would be a great choice after potent treatments like retinol, vitamin C, or exfoliating acids since the serum is gentle and replenishing.

The eye gel cream is fragrance-free, so it won’t irritate the delicate skin around your eyes.

The eye gel also contains caffeine, an active ingredient popular in eye creams, for its ability to improve circulation and reduce the look of puffiness.

Caffeine is an antioxidant that targets free radicals from environmental stress that can cause premature skin aging.

Panthenol is a humectant that helps your skin retain moisture and has anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe your skin.

You can apply the eye gel both morning and night for extended and long-lasting hydration. Olay says that you should see plumper and smoother skin around your eyes within two weeks.

I have been using this eye gel cream morning and night and love how it hydrates my under-eye area without being too heavy or greasy.

The eye gel has a thick gel-like consistency that really is cooling and soothing when applied to my eye area. The skin under my eyes looks smooth and feels very hydrated.

It also doesn’t interfere with concealer and makeup, which is a big win.

I haven’t noticed a difference in my dark circles, but that is not a surprise since eye products don’t do much for my circles, which are due to loss of volume and genetics.

Overall, I think this is a great gel cream for anyone looking for hydration in their eye area without the heavy feel of some eye creams.

It replenishes your skin’s moisture barrier and helps reduce the look of dullness and aging.

In addition to hyaluronic acid for hydration, niacinamide for skin balancing, brightening, and smoothing, and peptides for multiple anti-aging benefits, the gel cream contains panthenol to soothe your skin.

Per Olay, the patent-pending gel moisturizer offers hydration that lasts 2X longer than a $400 cream.

The gel cream has a lightweight texture, a cooling effect on the skin, and sinks in quickly.

Like the other products in the collection, there is no greasiness or stickiness, which is not surprising, as Olay knows how to formula their skincare for comfortable wear on the skin.

I continue to use the words plump and dewy, but that’s what I think of when I think about how my skin feels after using this moisturizer.

This Olay face moisturizer pairs well with Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 serum but also after a retinol serum or vitamin C serum.

This is a well-formulated, non-irritating drugstore moisturizer that delivers on the promise of 24-hour hydration. My skin feels hydrated, smooth, and supple after using it.

I think it would be great for those looking for a budget-friendly moisturizer that does what it says it will do: provide extended hydration to create a glowing and dewy complexion.

The products are fragrance-free! My skin can be temperamental, so having an entire skincare routine without fragrance is an added bonus and ideal for sensitive skin.

The products combine multiple actives like hyaluronic acid, peptides, and niacinamide to target multiple skin concerns.

The products don’t contain any strong actives, so you can use them twice a day.

Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Drawbacks (CONs)

Olay’s prices (except for the cleanser) tend to skew toward the high end of drugstore skincare pricing. (Please note that Amazon usually offers lower prices on Olay products, and Olay’s website often offers incentives and rebates.)

If you have a combination or oily skin type and are looking for a matte finish, these aren’t the products for you, as they provide a dewy/glowy finish.

Just as not having potent actives will be a plus for some, it could be a drawback for others.

The products don’t contain potent actives like retinol, vitamin C, or glycolic acid (AHAs). So besides the plumping from hyaluronic acid and the anti-aging benefits of niacinamide, you won’t get the more noticeable skin benefits that retinoids, vitamin C, and AHAs provide.
